Mountain Biking
With its selection of moderate logging roads and single track, to extreme mountain bike trails, Fernie is a mountain biker's dream. Rentals are approximately $25 CDN per day for a front-suspension or $45 per day for a full-suspension bike. CamelBak hydration and helmet are included.

Golf
Try a round of golf at Fernie Golf & Country club, the valley's most scenic location. Opened in 1918 and regarded as a player's dream, this course has something for every player.
Club facts: Par 70 and 6,556 yards long; Cart rentals available at the club house. There is a full Pro-Shop and complete food and beverage service available in two venues: the casual Player's Lounge and the terrace overlooking the course. Wildlife Viewing and Mountain Pursuits
Discover the natural beauty, serenity, excitement and mystery of the southern Rocky Mountains. Join Fernie Nature Tours' Lee-Anne Walker, local naturalist and environmental educator since 1983, on a guided experience and enjoy her local knowledge and the opportunity to watch, listen, and uncover the area's unique flora, fauna, landscape and heritage. Kokanee Salmon Spawning and Grizzly Bear Feeding
Every year from September 10-25th (approximate), Kokanee Salmon spawn in Kikomun Creek and bears come to feed at dusk. Follow Hwy 3 west to the first left after 93(S) exit to the U.S.; go to first major intersection at Jaffray/Baynes Lake Road and turn right. Just before the bridge, park in the lot on your right hand side. Cross the street to the overpass, and simply wait and watch. The area is also home to bald eagles.
Whitewater Rafting
Experience whitewater - or a gentle cruise - along some of the most spectacular terrain of the Canadian Rockies and add excitement to your vacation. Three types of trips are available: for the more adventuresome, try the thrill of a whitewater river raft run. For those who want to get right in the waves, try an inflatable kayak. Or, for those who want to enjoy the beauty of the river, a float trip might is the best option. Season starts in May and runs until in September on two unbeatable whitewaters, the Bull and Elk Rivers.
Hiking
Fernie's recreational trails provide access to a diverse natural environment. Book an experienced guide who will select the appropriate hike for your family. There are more than 60 area biking and hiking trails, ranging from backcountry, high-alpine routes to easy strolling paths alongside the Elk River shoreline dike.
